The biggest clue here is the skin: what we don’t want is something too dried out and brown. That means that the pomegranate is on the older side, and probably not as juicy any more.
A good pomegranate should be heavy for its size, so go ahead and give it a toss in your hands to make sure that yours is. Remember: a dense fruit, means that its packed with juice.
Look for a vibrant red color on the skin, which means that its nice and fresh. Practically every fruit has some brown on it though, so don’t worry too much!
Heres a great tip: the inedible white parts float more than the arils (aka seeds) do, so you can separate them really easily that way!
Keep ‘em moist!
Pomegranate arils like humidity, so stick them in a bowl and cover with a moist paper towel or cloth for longest life in the fridge.
